You can't really call it a full season, but it is what it is what with the WGA strike ending things early for many shows. The question is whether the shows come back to finish off the seasons in spring or do we have to wait for a longer fall season? Who knows.
Not knowing how some ended or are going to end, here are my top new shows for 2007:
- Pushing Daisies: Best all around for its ability to make the super corny super funny. The matchy matchingness of everything is also a pleasure to watch. Digby swearing was the icing on the cake.
- Gossip Girl: It's The Hills meets 90210 meets a dash of Veronica Mars. It's just so addictive. It also stars several Verizon Wireless phones.
- Life: Charlie Crews is the best new character on TV (Sorry Jack). The show, like Lost, reveals just enough to not frustrate, but keeps the main premise going with twists and turns.
- Chuck: Second best new character on TV is Chuck. You go in thinking its just a comedy, but it's oh so much more. Kind of like an Alias meets Revenge of the Nerds theme. You gotta love the Nerd Herd at Buy More.
- The Unit: OK, this isn't a "new" show, but it's a reinvented show. The Unit was about to jump the shark last season, but left us with some tasty shows to close out the season. Then in season three, they kicked us in the balls to get us to stand at attention. "Gimme a reason . . . "
- University of Hawaii Football Games: The Sugar Bowl remains to be played, but I've never seen so many Hawaii football games on TV as I did this year. And they won every single one of them! 12-0!
